- Arrivals for SeAH Besteel dip but remain elevated
- No major cargoes reported at Pohang, Busan ports
SteelDaily: South Korea's major ports recorded total imported scrap arrivals of around 56,303 tonnes (t) as of 11 February, about 10,000 t lower than on 2 February, when arrivals reached almost a one-year high after limited inflows during January. Although volumes fell by around 18%, overall arrivals were elevated, being at the second-highest level since July 2025.
Inflows remained concentrated in the metropolitan and central regions, including Incheon, Dangjin, Jinhae, Pohang, and Busan.
Mill-wise position
Dongkuk Steel (Incheon): Pending inbound shipments increased sharply to 10,903 t, nearly doubling from about 5,000 t recorded in early February, indicating active procurement.
SeAH Besteel: Reported arrivals stood at 21,500 t, down by roughly 6,000 t from nearly 28,000 t earlier in the month. Despite the decline, volumes remained substantial.
Hyundai Steel (Dangjin): The company primarily concentrated its imported scrap at Dangjin Steelworks.
POSCO: Import volumes remained limited at around 3,200 t.
Meanwhile, approximately 2,000 t -- believed to be for Korea Special Steel -- was reported at Jinhae Port. No significant scrap cargoes are currently being unloaded or awaiting discharge at Pohang or Busan ports.
A market participant stated that while arrivals remain elevated, inflows could moderate in the coming weeks, depending on procurement strategy and domestic demand conditions. Supply remains ample, considering that major mills announced reductions in their scrap procurement prices in mid-February.
