South Korea Flat Steel Exports Drop 3% M-o-M in Sep’17

According to the latest customs data, South Korea flat steel exports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates),7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212 (GP/GC) registered the drop of 3% M-o-M basis in Sep’17 to 1.9 MnT compared to 1.95 MnT in Aug’17.
However on yearly basis South Korean flat steel exports dropped marginally by 2% in Sep’17 against 1.89 MnT in Sep’16.
In first nine months of CY17 (Jan-Sep) country’s flat steel exports rose slightly by 0.7% to 17.02 MnT which was 16.9 MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.

China remained the major flat steel importer of South Korea in Jan-Sep’17- China occupied the largest share of imports and accounts 15.31% of share in first nine months (Jan-Sep) of CY17.Other major countries include Japan which stood at 13.51%,India at 10.86% followed by Mexico at 7.77% and Thailand at 5.91%.
In the month of Sep’17 China imported 0.45 MnT of flat steel down by 11% against 0.50 MnT in Aug’17.However on monthly basis Japan exported 0.29 MnT and Taiwan at 0.05 MnT in Sep’17.
