India: Brass Honey scrap prices in Jamnagar edge up w-o-w on supply tightness
...
- Tight high-grade supply continues to support cleaner scrap premiums
- Strong downstream demand, steady exports sustain higher prices
Brass Honey scrap prices in India rose marginallyby 0.41% w-o-w to INR 723,000/t on 9 April 2026 from INR 720,000/t, supported by steady demand from brass product manufacturers and continued preference for high-grade scrap. The domestic market remained active, reflecting healthy consumption across key downstream segments.
Meanwhile, supply dynamics remained grade-specific, with tight availability of high-grade brass scrap, while lower-grade material with higher attachments was more readily available. This disparity continued to support premiums for cleaner scrap grades, with buyers focusing on quality material amid constrained supply.
On the global front, 3M LME prices rose by 3.42% w-o-w, providing an upward bias to scrap pricing and reinforcing domestic price strength. Additionally, Indian brass ingots were exported to China at around 63% of 3M LME, highlighting continued overseas demand support, thereby supporting overall market sentiment for Brass Honey scrap.
On the import front, European suppliers raised offers to around 59.5% of 3M LME, reflecting firm global pricing and continued supply-side constraints.
Outlook
Brass Honey scrap prices are expected to remain firm with marginal upside next week, supported by strong demand for high-grade scrap and limited availability. However, adequate supply of lower-grade material may cap sharp price increases, keeping the market balanced but supported.
