Vietnam: Bulk coal and coke imports surge 30% on strong Indonesian supply

Vietnam's bulk coal and coke imports rose to 5.2 mnt in April 2026, up 30% m-o-m from 4. mnt in March and also increasing by 10.6% y-o-y, indicating stronger industrial demand. Indonesian shipments led growth at 3 mnt, up 50% m-o-m, while exports from Russia surged sharply by 200% to 0.6 mnt. Australian imports declined by 6.3% m-o-m to 1.5 mnt, reflecting a shift toward more competitively priced suppliers.
