South Africa: Merafes ferro chrome production plunges 95% y-o-y in Q1CY26

Merafe, South Africas ferro chrome producer, reported Q1CY26 output at 3,000 t from its Glencore joint venture, down sharply by 95% y-o-y from 71,000 t in Q1CY25. The steep decline was primarily due to the continued suspension of operations at the Wonderkop and Boshoek smelters. Meanwhile, chrome ore production rose 3% y-o-y to 214,000 t.
