India: NCL schedules two major coal auctions in mid-May'26

Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has lined up two major spot e-auctions of non-coking coal on 15 May'26 and 19 May, collectively offering around 328,000 t to domestic consumers.In the first auction scheduled for 15 May, NCL will offer approximately 183,000 t of coal across multiple mines, grades, and transportation modes. The offering includes 70,000 t of G13 grade coal from Jhingurda. Another 34,000 t of G13 grade coal will be made available from Jhingurda and the Jhingurda Wharfwall rail source. Rail-linked supplies in the auction will also include mixed-grade coal sourced from Khadia OC and Dudhichua OC, providing additional logistics flexibility to buyers.Further, the auction catalogue includes 25,000 t of G9 grade coal from Kakri. Additionally around 54,000 t of G8 grade coal from Dudhichua and Dudhichua Silo-I, including a limited quantity through rail mode will be offered. The diversified mine-wise allocation is expected to attract buyers with varying fuel requirements and logistical preferences.In the second auction on 19 May, NCL will offer 145,000 t of non-coking coal. The volume includes 125,000 t of G8 grade coal from Khadia OC through road/RCR mode, along with 20,000 t of G13 grade coal from Jhingurda OC.
