India: Domestic thermal coal prices rise w-o-w as buyers shift from imported coal

Domestic thermal coal prices increased w-o-w, as per BigMint's assessment. 5,000 GCV rose by INR 200/t to INR 6,600/t, while 4,500 GCV increased by INR 50/t to INR 5,200/t. The rise was supported by firm auction premiums and steady demand from sponge iron and industrial users, along with a shift towards domestic coal amid elevated imported coal prices due to geopolitical tensions.
