China's coal and lignite imports rise 35% m-o-m in Jun'21

China's coal and lignite imports rose 35% m-o-m and 12% y-o-y to 28.4 mn t in Jun'21, CoalMint data reveals. Skyrocketing coal prices in the country amid constrained coal output had compelled Chinese traders to look for cheaper coal abroad. China's robust coal demand has lifted global thermal coal prices: Indonesian 4,200 GAR coal is up by 16% to $64/t, South African 5,500 NAR coal has moved up by 11% in July to $93.6/t, and Australian 5,500 NAR coal has moved up 35% in the last two months.
