Pig Iron Imports Continues to Surge in Thailand

Thailand - one of the major importer in South East Asia, the nation's pig iron import increase consecutively since 2 month's and during August 2017 it reported at 50,000 MT.
The imports have gain by 66.66% M-o-M in Aug’17 against 30,000 MT in Jul’17. During Aug'17, India has exported around 80% (40,000 MT) of Pig iron to Thailand.
While, on Y-o-Y in August 2017 imports registered a fall of 28.57% against 70,000 MT in August 2016.
Coming to the total imports in CY17(Jan-Aug’17), the nation has imported about 290,000 MT Pig iron; which remains at similar level as compared to the same preceding last year.
In the duration of Jan-Aug’17 - India, Brazil & Vietnam was the major Pig iron exporter to Thailand which exported about 0.16 MnT (55.66%), 0.04 MnT (14.45%) & 0.02 MnT (8.20%), respectively.
Presently, the export offers of steel grade Pig Iron are hovering at USD 360-365/MT FoB Russia, USD 350-370/MT FoB Brazil & at USD 370-390/MT FoB India.
