Japan: Tokyo Steel raises scrap purchase prices by $9/t for all plants
...
- Supported by strong Kanto export tender results
- Firm domestic demand drives price increase
Tokyo Steel has raised scrap purchase prices by JPY 1,500/t ($9/t) across all plants, effective 9 April26, marking its second revision this month. Prices have been increased to JPY 52,500/t ($330/t), while price announcements for the Takamatsu plant remain suspended.
The hike follows firm results from the April Kanto export tender, along with strong domestic demand and continued strength in overseas markets. Rising freight costs and ongoing geopolitical risks in the Middle East have also supported the upward price trend.
