Japan: Finish Long Steel Exports Gain by 16% in Mar 2018

Japan, the world's 2nd largest steel producer has enlarged its long steel exports in the month of Mar'18 on monthly premises.

As per the customs, the nation has exported about 220,000 MT Finish Long steel in Mar 2018 which is being against 190,000 MT in Feb 2018. On the contrary Y-o-Y, exports were fell by 12% against 250,000 MT in Mar’17.

Bar’s & Rods have contributed the major exports proportionate and registered at 160,000 MT (72.72%) followed by Angle and Shapes 50,000 MT (22.72%) and remaining was MS Wire 10,000 MT.

As per the SteelMint's assessment in Mar 2018, the crude steel production of the Japan was around 9.08 MnT which has been stretched up by around 9.39% M-o-M, against 8.3 MnT in Feb 2018.

Country wise:

In the month of March 2018, the largest importer of Finish Long Steel from Japan was South Korea - 70,000 MT, Thailand - 30,000 MT & China, USA along with Indonesia stood at 20,000 MT each.

1. Flat steel imports went down by 11% in Mar’18 to 0.31 MnT against 0.35 MnT in Feb’18.

2. Ferrous scrap exports witnessed a fall of 20% M-o-M to 0.53 MnT in Mar’18 as against 0.66 MnT exports in Feb’18.
