Iran Crude Steel Production Increases by 19% Y-o-Y

Iran, one of the largest crude steel producer in MENA has produced 20 MnT crude steel in the 10 months of CY’18 as per the data released by World Steel Organization. Iranian steelmakers produced 20.59 MnT of crude steel during the period. Production was up by 19% Y-o-Y against 17.30 MnT produced during the same period of CY’17.
In Oct’18, Iran produced 2.07 MnT of crude steel, registered a growth of 10.16 % Y-o-Y against 1.87 MnT produced in Oct’17. According to the Iran’s Vision Plan, total steel production capacity is to hit 55 MnT a year by 2025, with an expected exports figure of 10-15 MnT.
Iran: DRI Production Increases by 21% in Current Persian Year
Iran, one of the largest DRI producer in world has produced 15,199,000 MT DRI during the first seven months of Persian year (21 Mar-22 Oct’18) as per the data released by ISPA. The nation reportedly witnessed a growth of 21% Y-o-Y in production of DRI against 12,590,000 MT produced in last year.
Major DRI producers during the period were
Mobarekah Steel was by far the largest manufacture of DRI in Iran during the current Persian year, the company produced 4,311,256 MT DRI. Production was constant during the period.
Khouzestan Steel was the second largest DRI producer during the current Persian year. The company produced 2,173,247 MT DRI in current year by registering a downfall of 10% Y-o-Y.
Other major producers includes HOSCO (1,004,778 MT), South Kaveh Steel (887,657 MT), Khorasan Steel (772,895 MT) and Saba Steel (701,978 MT).
