India: RINL concludes 30,000 t BF coke procurement tender

  • Suvidhi emerges as L1 bidder in BF coke tender

  • Awarded price approximately INR 2,200/t higher than 27th Apr'26 tender

RINL has awarded its 30,000-tonne (t) blast furnace (BF) coke procurement tender to Suvidhi Energy India Private Limited, which emerged as the successful bidder (L1) following a two-packet bidding process and reverse auction, sources highlighted BigMint. Although official confirmation remained awaited at the time of publishing this report. The tender, floated by the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, closed on 3 June 2026 and sought BF coke supplies for its steelmaking operations.

Suvidhi Energy secures L1 position

Suvidhi Energy India Pvt Ltd emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) in RINL's latest 30,000 t blast furnace (BF) coke procurement tender at a quoted average value of around INR 38,800/t FOR (Free on Rail). The awarded price was approximately INR 2,200/t higher than the RINL's previous tender concluded on 27th Apr'26 for 1,20,000 t BF coke tender with awarded price of INR 36,600/t FOR, reflecting firmer domestic coke market conditions. The procurement covers 30,000 t of BF coke, with deliveries scheduled within 21 days of order placement, subject to RINL's prescribed technical specifications and quality requirements.

Reverse auction ensures competitive pricing

The tender adopted a reverse-auction-based price discovery mechanism, allowing technically qualified bidders to compete on price after technical evaluation. Conducted on a total-value evaluation basis, the procurement reflects RINL's continued focus on transparent sourcing and securing competitive coke supplies amid steady demand from the steel sector.
