India: Mill scale prices rise w-o-w in Kandla on improved export inquiries

Mill scale prices across Raipur, Kandla, and Jalna reflected positive trends as of 6 May 2026. According to BigMint's latest assessment, Fe 69% mill scale prices in Kandla rose by INR 100/t ($1/t) to INR 9,100/t ($96/t) DAP compared to 2 May while in Raipur prices increased by INR 50/t ($0.5/t) exw to INR 7,200/t ($76/t). Meanwhile, Jalna prices held stable at INR 7,000/t ($74/t) ex-works.

Kandla market sentiment stayed firm, supported by strong buying interest from exporters procuring material at elevated offer levels. Supplies from Maharashtra-based markets remained constrained, while inflows from Saurashtra and Mandi Gobindgarh were reported at higher landed costs. Approximately 11,650 t of trades were concluded in the range of INR 8,975-9,100/t ($95-96/t) DAP.

In Raipur, prices remained firm as market participants maintained higher offer levels amid tight availability. Fresh bulk enquiries supported positive trade expectations, with some participants indicating limited spot availability in the market. Around 4,850 t of transactions were recorded in the range of INR 7,200-7,450/t ($76-79/t) exw.

In Jalna, material availability remained adequate, with ongoing dispatches of previously booked volumes. However, movement from Jalna to Kandla was impacted by logistical constraints along key routes. Trading activity remained moderate, with expectations of fresh purchase orders emerging in the coming week, particularly from the Wardha region. Around 2,000 t of trades were recorded at INR 6,900-7,000/t ($73-74/t) exw.
