Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will perform the Bhoomi Pujan for a 10,000-ton aluminium extrusion press at Yantra India Limited's (YIL) Ordnance Factory, Ambajhari, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on 19 Jun'26, in a boost to India's defence manufacturing capabilities.
The facility will enhance the country's capability to manufacture large, high-strength and precision aluminium alloy extrusions required for defence and aerospace applications. The project is also expected to reduce India's reliance on imports of critical aluminium extruded components while strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities. Once operational, the new facility is anticipated to support indigenous production of advanced aluminium components, contributing to greater self-reliance in the defence and aerospace sectors.
The ceremony will be attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, along with senior officials from the Department of Defence Production and Yantra India Limited.
