India: Chrome ore dispatches rise 20% m-o-m in Nov'25

  • Dispatches jump amid lowerbids at OMC auction in Nov'25

  • Vedanta-FACORs output surges post Kalarangiatta restart

Indias chrome ore dispatches increased by 20% m-o-m in November 2025 to 316,756 t from 263,742 t in October. The rise was largely supported by softer prices in OMCs November chrome ore auction, where 88,400 t out of 93,800 t on offer were sold. Bids fell by 2-21% m-o-m across most grades, while prices of below 40% grades remained steady. Additionally, Vedanta-FACORs output surged 76% m-o-m following the restart of Kalarangiatta mines, lifting overall dispatch volumes.

OMC's dispatches rose 23% m-o-m to 153,945 t in November. IMFA and Tata Steel also reported higher dispatches, up by 14% and 11%, respectively.

Procurement trends

In terms of procurement, IMFA emerged as the leading buyer, sourcing its entire 65,991 t from captive mines. Jindal Stainless ranked second, meeting 92% (46,957 t) of its requirement from OMC and the balance 8% (4,295 t) from captive sources, while Tata Steel sourced 33,265 t entirely from its own mines.
