Pakistan: Non-coking coal imports jump 51% m-o-m in Apr'26 on stronger energy demand

Pakistan's non-coking coal imports rose sharply to 1.31 million tonnes (mnt) in Apr'26, up 51% m-o-m and a significant surge of 108% y-o-y, driven by stronger power and industrial demand amid costly LNG alternatives. South African supplies dominated at 0.83 mnt, rising by 39% m-o-m, while Indonesian imports increased by 27% to 0.27 mnt. Shipments from Mozambique surged drastically by 262% m-o-m to 0.21 mnt.
