Japan: Kanto tender bid rise by JPY 172/t ($1/t) in Aug'25

Japan's Kanto Tetsugen ferrous scrap tender for August concluded with 20,000 t of H2 scrap awarded to Vietnam at JPY 41,888/t ($285/t) FAS, up JPY 172/t from July. The equivalent FOB price is estimated at around $295, with freight costs of approximately $30/t, bringing the CFR cost to about $325/t.The JPY-USD exchange rate remained largely stable (147.14/$ on 9 August vs. 146.32/$ on 9 July), which softened the decline in yen terms.
