India: Vardhman Special Steels plans 500,000 t/year low-emissions steel plant in Ludhiana

Vardhman Special Steels Ltd (VSSL), in partnership with Japan's Aichi Steel Corporation, will establish a greenfield special and alloy steel plant in Ludhiana with an investment of INR 2,500 crore. The facility will have a 500,000 t/year capacity to serve the domestic and global auto sector. The project will focus on green steel production using scrap-based technologies and will have a solar power plant.
