Bangladesh: Non-coking coal imports surge by 40% y-o-y in CY'25
Bangladesh's non-coking coal imports rose sharply by 40% y-o-y to 18.6 mnt in CY'25, reflecting a strong recovery in demand, supported by higher power generation requirements and improved supply availability. Indonesia remained the largest supplier, exporting 17.36 mnt, up 42% y-o-y, driven by cost competitiveness and reliable supply. Meanwhile, Bangladesh imported 1.88 mnt in Dec'25, down 8% m-o-m, mainly due to year-end inventory adjustments and subdued spot buying.
