Baltic dry index jumps on strong Capesize rally and improved bulk cargo demand

The Baltic Dry Index surged by 5.3% (83 points) to 1,650 on 19 Jan'26 against 16 Jan on improved iron ore and coal demand. Panamax rates also strengthened on steady grain and coal activity, while Supramax remained largely stable, indicating limited momentum in minor bulks.

• Capesize: BCI increased 8.1% (179 points) to 2,403.
• Panamax: BPI gained 4.3% (63 points) to 1,521.
• Supramax: BSI up 0.3% (3 points) to 970.
