Russia: Ferrous Scrap Exports Down 7% M-o-M in Jul’17

Russia is world's fourth foremost ferrous scrap exporter after EU, USA and Japan. It annually exports around 5-6 MnT ferrous scrap. Russia exported 5.32 MnT ferrous scrap in CY16.

As per recent customs data, Russia has witnessed fall in its ferrous scrap exports in Jul’17 against in Jun’17.Russia has exported 0.50 MnT ferrous scrap in Jul’17, which is down by 7% M-o-M as it was 0.54 MnT in Jun’17.

On yearly premises, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports remained stable without Y-o-Y change as it was noted at 0.50 MnT also in Jul’16.

During first seven months of CY17 (Jan-Jul’17), Russian ferrous scrap exports summed up at 2.50 MnT, lesser by 17% against 3.02 MnT ferrous scrap exports during the same period in CY16.

Major scrap loading ports in Russia are North-West Federal district, Far East Federal district, Central Federal district and Southern Federal district.

Turkey remained the top destination for Russian ferrous scrap exports -

In a considered month, Turkey’s share was highest at 0.24 MnT of Russian ferrous scrap exports followed by Belarus (0.10 MnT), South Korea (0.08 MnT), and Spain (0.02 MnT).

Greece, Portugal, Egypt and Lithuania each imported 0.01 MnT ferrous scrap from Russia in Jul’17.

During the period of Jan-Jul’17, out of total 2.50 MnT Russian ferrous scrap exports, Turkey imported 1.10 MnT occupying highest share of 44% followed by Belarus (25%), South Korea (20%), Spain (6%) and Greece (1%) respectively. Belarus registered 59% growth in its imports while Spain almost halved it against the imports in the same time frame during the last year.
