Odisha: Essel Mining Resumes Iron Ore Sales from Koira Mines

Easing out the iron ore supply in the state to some extent, Essel mining and Industries has resumed sales from its Koira mines. The miner has EC limit of 4 MnT pa for its Koira mines.
Essel Mining had shut down its operations following Supreme Court’s order owing to inability to submit the penalty amount. However, it was reported that after few days, Essel mining submitted the penalty amount, but operations were at halt owing to pending EC and FC clearances.
In the SC hearing conducted on 15 Feb’18, the Supreme Court permitted Essel mining and Industries Ltd. to resume operations at two of its iron ore mines in Odisha - Jilling Langalota and Koira.
Following this, the miner has resumed sales from Koira, while the Jilling may take some time to do so, owing to long term operations hold. Its Jilling mines (with 6 MnT capacity), has achieved the clearances but is at preparatory stage and will take some time to be turned operational.
