India: NMDC Iron Ore Production Increases 8% in Jan'18

NMDC - India’s largest iron ore miner recorded an increase in iron ore production in Jan’18 by 8% to 3.64 MnT as against 3.37 MnT in Dec’17. On yearly basis, the iron ore production from NMDC in Jan’18 recorded a marginal increase of 5% as against 3.47 MnT in Jan’17.

Out of the total iron ore production of 3.64 MnT in Jan’18, 2.68 MnT ( 74% of total production) was contributed by NMDC Bailadila mines, Chhattisgarh, up by 24% M-o-M, while the remaining 0.96 MnT was produced from Karnataka mines, recording a decline of 21% M-o-M.

In first ten months of FY’18(i.e during Apr’17-Jan’18), NMDC’s iron ore production has been recorded at 27.87 MnT, up 3% against 27.1 MnT in FY’17(Apr-Jan).

NMDC iron ore sales up marginally to 3.25 MnT in Jan’18-

NMDC witnessed an increase in sales of iron ore in Jan’18 to 3.25 MnT compared to 3.23 MnT in Dec’17. Iron ore sales from Chhattisgarh mines were recorded at 2.36 MnT, up by 20% M-o-M as against 1.96 MnT in Dec’17. Sales from Karnataka stood at 0.89 MnT, down 30% compared to 1.27 MnT in Dec’17. NMDC, Chhattisgarh contributed about three fourth of total NMDC’s sales in Jan’18.

So far in FY18 (Apr’17-Jan’18) NMDC’s iron ore sales have been recorded at 28.89 MnT, down 2% as against 29.47 in same time frame last fiscal (Apr’16-Jan’17).

The total sales from Chhattisgarh mines for first ten months of FY’18 was recorded at 18.38 MnT, down 3% against 18.9 MnT during same period last fiscal. The sales from Karnataka stood at 10.51 MnT, down marginally against 10.57 MnT same period last fiscal.
