Brazil Steel Exports Statistics - Apr'19

Brazil, the world’s second-largest Semi finished exporter, has exported about 899,245 MT Semi finished (Slab & Pig iron) in Apr’19, surge by 13.9% M-o-M, as per custom data maintained by SteelMint.
In the month of Mar’19, the crude steel production of Brazil was around 2,794,995 MT and in CY19 (Jan-Mar) it was approximately 8,390,105 MT.
Brazil Iron Ore Exports Hit 7-Years Low in Apr'19- Brazil has recorded iron ore export volumes at 18,343,089 MT in Apr'19, down 17% as compared to Mar'19 exports at 22,182,535 MT. In Apr’19 figure seems to be seven years low and this level of exports were last seen in Jan'12 at 18.18 MnT.
China stood largest iron ore importer of Brazilian iron ore at 7,962,091 MT (down 35.06% M-o-M) followed by Malaysia at 2,736,050 MT and Netherlands at 1,087,031 MT.
Brazil's pig iron exports decreased by about 8.4% M-o-M in Apr’19 & reported at around 171,220 MT against the last month (Mar’19) at 186,938 MT.
Inline on yearly premises the exports registered a decrease of 30.5% in Apr’19 against 246,432 MT in Apr’18.
During Apr’19, the most favourable export destination of Brazilian pig iron was - United States (91,156 MT), Turkey (46,935 MT) & Netherlands (29,864 MT).
In Jan-Apr’19, the Nation’s pig iron exports were recorded at 786,213 MT, which was 677,114 MT during same the period of CY18, incline by 16.11% Y-o-Y, as per SteelMint Stats.
As per our last assessment, the global export prices for basic grade Pig iron is assessed at USD 320-322/MT FoB Brazil & USD 370-375/MT FoB India.
Brazil has exported about 728,025 MT slab in Apr’19, inclined by 20.8% M-o-M as against 602,465 MT in Mar’19. Inline on yearly premises it increase by 32.2% as against 550,654 MT in Apr’18.
During Apr’19, United States has imported approximately 90.21% (656,816 MT) slab, rise by 47.74% M-o-M against 444,551 MT in Mar’19. Inline, Dominican Republic has imported 30,227 MT Slab in the month.
In Apr’19, the major export of Slabs were from the ports of Vitoria (337,570 MT), Itaguai (217,058 MT) & Fortaleza Porto (172,674 MT). While approximately 46% of exports were done from the port of Vitoria in Apr’19.
In the total slab exports during CY19 (Jan-Apr), the most favourable export destination of Brazilian slab was - United States (1,647,890 MT), Italy (190,846 MT), Dominican Republic (123,812 MT), Germany (107,517 MT) & Belgium (100,887 MT).
The export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 415-425/MT FoB India, 150*150 Q235 are at USD 475-485/MT FoB China & 125*125 3sp at USD 415-420/MT FoB Ukraine.
Brazilian Manganese Ore exports are down in the month of Apr’19 as compared to the previous month by 50% from 0.290 MnT to 0.146 MnT. The reduced exports may be due to the increase in the prices of Manganese Ore during this period. However, as compared to Apr’18 the exports in Apr’19 were marginally higher by 8%. Meanwhile, the exports in the first four month were significantly up by 33.4%. China and Uruguay remained the top two importers of Brazilian Manganese Ore in the first four months in CY19, However, there were no imports by Uruguay in the month of Apr’19, which made China and India the top two leading importers of Manganese Ore in the month of Apr’19.
