India: Dalmia Cement advances electric freight deployment in Tamil Nadu
Dalmia Cement, in partnership with SwitchLabs Automobiles and Energy In Motion, has deployed 24 heavy-duty electric trucks for bulk material movement from Karaikal Port to its Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur plants. The fleet will transport petcoke, slag and gypsum, with each truck expected to cover around 12,000 km monthly. A trailer-swap model and dedicated charging infrastructure are designed to improve utilisation and reduce turnaround time. The fleet is estimated to avoid nearly 3,735 tonnes of CO2 annually.
